The city of Elvas, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, is located near the border between Portugal and Spain and lies along the main motorway between Lisbon and Madrid. António Ferro, a Portuguese poet had the vision of distinctive, rare and typically Portuguese hotels that were peaceful, gracious, elegant places. The SL Hotel – Santa Luzia**** presents itself as a meeting point among comfort, the art of welcoming, the History of Elvas, the gastronomy of Alentejo, and its unique landscape, continuing the tradition started in 1942, when it opened as the first Pousada of Portugal.
