Reid's Palace, a Belmond Hotel, is a legendary retreat in Madeira. Its story began with a Scotsman, William Reid, who built up a thriving wine export business on the island. He decided to construct a palatial hotel on the promontory overlooking Funchal. It opened in 1891 and went on to attract illustrious guests from Sissi, the Empress of Austria, to Winston Churchill, the British prime minister. Today, Reid's star shines ever brighter – literally. Now a gourmet destination, the hotel was awarded the first ever Michelin star earned by a Madeiran chef at William Restaurant. It's one of several sensational dining options. Others include a cosy, cliffside Italian restaurant, an elegant terrace serving afternoon tea and a stylish cocktail bar. Cancellation Policy:

- The cancellation request when sent by email must be made before 6:00 pm, after that time it will only be considered on the following business day.

- If the booking has already been payed in full before the cancelation date, 95% of the value is refunded and the remaining 5% remain in credit and may be used in a future reservation. The maximum term for the use of the credit is 60 days after the date of the first cancellation.

- 1% deposits are non-refundable and can not be used for future bookings.

- 5% deposits are non-refundable but may be used in a future reservation. The maximum term for the use of the credit is 60 days after the date of the first cancellation.

- Non-refundable bookings cannot be cancelled.
